Elf on the Shelf

As always, we kicked off the month of December with a North Pole Breakfast that our elf Alfred brings us. This year Addy had spent the night with my parents the night before, so this year Alfred had her snack waiting on her when she got home!

Addy's feet would barely hit the floor in the mornings and she was off to look for Alfred.
He was mostly a good little elf that just enjoyed playing with the girls toys.
Alfred read some books...

Got a little crazy with the pictures...

He caught the cold that both girls had. :(

He rocked baby Jesus one day...

Decorated the kitchen cabinets...

Played in a wooden sleigh...

Bungee jumped from the chandelier...

Had dinner with the princesses..

Took a relaxing bath...

Used the Christmas lights as a zip line...

took some baby dolls on a ride...

 And much more!

This elf brings so much joy to Addy. We had two near catastrophes when Elli got a hold of him. Addy explained to Alfred that she was too little to know better and asked that he please come back. She took it very serious, but Alfred never let her down! :)

It seems like there was so much negativity this year about the elf on the shelf. I have read many different posts about him being creepy, or encouraging greed. I have to say that we love this little guy. He never causes too much trouble but we occasionally get some laughs over a little stunt he may pull. He doesn't 'watch them' or 'report to Santa', but he does head back to the North Pole each night to check in with Santa. On Christmas Eve we wish him well and tell him goodbye until next year. Addy wrote him a note the other day asking if he was glad to be back at his home. The magical wonder and awe that she has for this is worth every panic attack I have during this month when I am laying in bed and realize Alfred better find him a new spot! Until next year Alfred!!!
