Christmas Advent Calendar

December 1st kicks off the Christmas season around the Anderle house and this year was no different! I quickly made up a new advent calendar this year!

Our advent calendar starts each year with new Christmas jammies!
We had a Rudolph Christmas!

This year we did something we have never done before. We picked out a real tree for all the sentimental and handmade ornaments. I bought me a 9 foot pencil tree so I could do a theme tree each year and then these two went and picked out a real one to decorate.

Addy was SO excited about having this tree! She was a part of every step and couldn't wait to put the star on top!

The girls have had so much fun playing with our little people nativity. We have read the Christmas story a hundred times this season. I love listening to Addy tell it!

We attended the Grapevine Parade of Lights.

Addy got to open a few new gifts, like this cozy blanket, new Christmas book, new Christmas movie, and new Christmas shirts for the girls.

We made a lot of crafts since the ice storm cancelled lots of plans!

We put a tree in Addy's room.

Wrote letters to Santa...

Attended the Hurst Festival of Carols...amazing music!

We spent one evening driving through the Arlington neighborhood, Interlochen.

We attended Birchman Baptist Church's Christmas story. It was AMAZING!! If you are near the DFW area next Christmas you need to put this on your list! We went with some dear friends and even our 4 year old daughters just loved all the singing, dancing and acting...as well as the live nativity! The pictures are not great because no flash was allowed, but the camels and goats got Addy (& me) so pumped! :)

and of course, one day we headed off to go see the Jolly old guy himself!

Each Sunday we lit the advent candles and read scripture together. We lit the final candle on Christmas day and read the Christmas story together from both Bradley's bible and again from Addy's.

This was a really great Christmas season! While it seemed to be our busiest yet, I absolutely loved soaking in Addy's childlike innocence. She was in awe of every aspect of Christmas this year! It was just amazing! I can't wait until Elli can get into it all a bit more next year!
